CBD Products for Animals
The products we offer are sourced only from well-known and trusted brands such as Enecta and Swiss Cibdol. As a result, each CBD oil available in this category is characterized by high quality, free from any artificial ingredients, and most importantly, does not cause psychoactive effects. CBD oils are not only dedicated to dogs or cats but can also be used for horses, cows, and many other animals. Each product provides long-lasting effects without any side effects. The use of oils allows for the supplementation of animals' diets with essential nutrients.
Hemp-based products, such as CBD oil, rich in fatty acids extracted from hemp seeds (cannabis sativa), have a similar effect on the endocannabinoid system of our furry friends as they do in humans. In our offer, you will find CBD oils for dogs and cats that can be added to their food to help them recover and reduce pain symptoms during recovery or to help them alleviate anxiety in stressful situations.
Is CBD oil for animals safe?
Products with CBD, devoid of THC, will not cause your pet to be intoxicated with cannabis. CBD works in mammals similarly to humans. The use of CBD in animals, produced from the flowers and seeds of industrial hemp, pure and free from potentially harmful impurities, does not cause side effects in animals, just as in humans. Of course, we recommend consulting a veterinarian if you have any doubts. The supplementation of CBD for animals has even gained its own name: veterinary cannabis.
What is CBD used for in pets?
The most common reason for using CBD in pets is to support the therapy of anxiety in stressful situations or to promote overall well-being. CBD oils also have a positive impact on the cognitive functions of pets. CBD products for animals, especially dogs, are in high demand during the New Year period when fireworks are not well-received by our furry friends. In addition, it is often used for supplementation in inflammatory conditions, after injuries, and increasingly in the support and supplementation of animals struggling with cancer.
How does CBD work in animals?
There is still no definitive answer - scientists working on this puzzle are still trying to answer this question for humans as well. Dogs have an endocannabinoid system, but whether CBD interacts with animals in the same way as in humans is a question that scientists will have to wait to answer. However, based on the information shared by people and found on forums, CBD in animals performs very similar functions to those in humans, and the effects are often noticeable quickly.
A 2018 study found that CBD in animals can help increase comfort and activity in dogs with degenerative joint disease, and in the following year, McGrath published a study showing that CBD can help reduce the number of seizures experienced by dogs with epilepsy. Although these studies were well-designed and reviewed, they are still very preliminary.
When Stefanie McGrath, a veterinarian from Colorado, began researching CBD for animal applications in 2016, one of her early studies analyzed how three different delivery methods - capsule, oil, and cream - affected the absorbability of CBD into the bloodstream of dogs.
"We measured pharmacokinetics, which basically means you give dogs a single dose of CBD from each of the three methods, and then you measure the CBD level in their blood over 12 hours," says McGrath. "So how quickly CBD is absorbed, how high the concentration is in the blood with a single dose, and then how quickly CBD clears from the bloodstream."
McGrath found that out of the three tested preparations, hemp oil had the best bioavailability profile, meaning it reached the highest concentration in the blood, remained in the bloodstream the longest, and had the longest duration of action in different dogs. Capsules also worked well, while the cream had the least effect.
